Regatta Mens Action Trousers – review
Finding a comfortable pair of trousers to wear while out walking isn’t always as easy as it sounds, there are elements you have to consider, you don’t want them too heavy or too light, they need to be loose enough to be comfortable but not so loose that they rub, the waist needs to be secure but also breathable. Complex right? Well I discovered the Regatta Mens Action Trousers recently (I bought a dark grey pair (£14.95) from their outlet website http://www.regattaoutlet.co.uk/ but they sell through amazon as well (same price), or other shops I’d imagine) I liked them so much I just bought a second pair.

Regatta Mens Action Trousers – Review

These are probably the most comfortable trousers I’ve owned!

They are lightweight and quite thin when you first try them on and I must admit I was a little worried that this would mean I’d be cold wearing them, but they are surprisingly wind proof, and so far I’ve felt warm enough in them, although the test will be how warm they are when the temperature really drops, but so far they are ideal Spring and Autumn trousers (more on summer in a moment).

With them being breathable I haven’t found myself sweating as much as I do in say jeans or cargo pants (sorry for the Americanism), which is something I am really pleased with, and it could make them excellent for summer as well. Although i wear shorts as soon as the temperature creeps above 20C. In fact on our Walk through Ashridge I felt really comfortable all day, and the weather changed quite a bit that day

Every Day Wear

Durability is something that only time will tell on but the reinforced knee patches make me think that area will be OK. Although I have to say I prefer a riveted button to a stitched on one, such as these trousers have, and feel I may well end up having to reattach this at some point.

The number of pockets are great, mums have handbags (generalisations aside) and dads well we need pockets! and these trousers certainly cover us better than jeans would.

I’ve yet to experience rain in them, typical of UK weather it rains all summer then the one time you want a bit there is none around, but even if they don’t stand up to light showers that makes them no worse than any other non waterproof trousers I own, and they are quick drying so it won’t take long to dry out even if the water repellent fabric isn’t as stated (I’ll provide an update at a later date). What’s more they go well with my Old Guys Rule T-Shirt and Berghaus Jacket.

Conclusion

Finally I’ve found a comfortable, affordable pair of everyday walking trousers. The Regatta Mens Action Trousers! Light weight and (allegedly) durable. Trousers I can wander the patch in, walk to work in, pick up my daughter in, but also head out into the hills without too much to worry about on my legs. Now if I could just find some new walking boots and other walking gear….Don’t forget to check out my other reviews on the Outdoor and Wildlife Product Reviews page.

I tried them in light rain for the first time the other day and it was odd! I kept getting drops through but other bits not, however once it stopped they dried really quickly.
