Swallows and Scooters
Let me just make it clear the title is indeed Swallows and Scooters, and not scoters (the sea duck), I know this is predominantly a wildlife blog but as always I like to add in some family life stuff as well to keep people on their toes! Anyway…
Swallows and Scooters
Tomorrow (Tuesday 22nd April) is my beloved’s birthday she joins me at being somewhere in the late 30’s and my mother (her mother-in-law, the old lady we have living with us! Sorry mum just kidding) decided for fun she would buy her an adult sized scooter so she could join in the fun scooting to school with Bo, she received it as an early present today so we could take it out and have some fun. And so we decided a walk/scooter around the lake was in order.
Some Migrants
The lake is now in full summer mode (nearly) with birds, there are Chiffchaff on every bush, Willow Warbler and Blackcap singing from the others and my first Barn Swallow of the year today skittering above the flat water. The swan is still going strong on her nest and there is a Great-crested Grebe nesting a few feet away it really is quite pleasant out (still waiting on Reed Warbler).
On our “walk” we were also lucky enough to see a few butterflies, the numbers seem to be fluctuating quite a bit still, but Orange Tip numbers were up, and there were also a few Peacock and a couple of Brimstone’s, and at least one Green-veined White.

Scooter
To be honest though the real reason of the lake trip was so that both Zoe and Bo could enjoy a bit of scooting together (yeah and me too, I pinched Zoe’s present a few times). So here are a few fun photos of that as well.

Late Other News
Some late other news, On my morning walks home from work this week (Wed/Thurs) I managed to see and hear a Garden Warbler (Just as Dansteed crosses the A5) and saw 3 Tufted Duck on the lake (2 males 1 Female).
Please feel free to leave me a comment. I really appreciate the interaction and will reply as soon as I can.

You all looked like you had a great family outing. A lovely set of family pictures, especially the one of you and your daughter, (helping her down). Would look great framed and on the wall.
So, skateboarding next? lol

Thank you, could never skate as a kid (not through want of trying, skateboarding just never worked for me). I love the pic of me (which is bloomin' rare as I hate photos of me normally, it's why I chose the other side of the camera lol).
