As campers with kids lighting becomes more of an issue in the tent. The potential utter darkness isn’t always easy to comprehend in this day of light pollution. So we are always on the lookout for bright lanterns to help us see at night. If it can perform more than one task, well even better. So when I spotted the Lanktoo 2 in 1 LED Camping Lantern on Amazon, I thought I’d give it a shot.

Lanktoo 2 in 1 LED Camping Lantern – review
So what is so special about this lantern? Well who doesn’t need extra chargers sometimes, I know we do! This means the 8800mAh capacity is a great added boost. We usually use a pair of Poweradd Pilot 2GS 10000mAh chargers, so this is an added bonus, if needed. Primarily it is a light for us though.
There are three levels of brightness in this lantern, dim; medium; and bright. As well as a strobe which could come in real handy in an emergency.
At only 4 Watts you wouldn’t think it would be that bright, but I can tell you that the brightest setting lights up a room as well as my household bulbs. The lower settings are also great, so with the fact the lowest setting can last a whopping 170 hours, if you are camping for a while you won’t need to do much recharging of the device. Even the brightest setting can last 18 hours. Does it last these times? Well I didn’t count, but over the Christmas period we used it as a night light for my kids, lighting the hallway (the Christmas lights were plugged into the usual lamp socket). And on the lower setting it lasted for a good week or so on all night. So no complaints there.
Design wise there is a very sturdy hook to hang the light from. It feels tough in the hand; and the Lanktoo 2 in 1 LED Camping Lantern is waterproof! I personally like the black and orange, but it might not be to everyone’s taste.
My one issue is the power button, it is small, but that is not the issue. When you switch it on you get the first setting, as one would expect. Pressing again cycles through to the next and so on. But then it starts again. To switch it off you have to double click the button, and for a “chunky” adult such as myself this isn’t always easy.
Now I should say I’ve not done much testing on either how many phones it can charge, or how quickly. It’s not why I bought it (really, just a bonus). But it seems to hold up OK if Amazon reviews are to be believed.
Charging the device itself, again, I’ve not tested. With all these larger batteries I tend to plug them in and then forget about them for a day.
Overall we have found this a great lamp, ideal for campers. Light enough to be used by hikers carrying their gear. And with the added bonus of charging a phone too.
