New Manor Farm Bird
So after a week of either looking after a poorly little girl (ear infection and stomach bug) or being ill myself (stomach bug). I finally managed to drop Bo at school and head out on a walk around that patch. And a very successful walk it was too. I have added another new bird taking my patch total to 108 (not bad considering this is only since August).
New Manor Farm Bird
So, can you guess what the new bird might be? well a few clues they are water birds, the males are white and green, the females red and grey and they are quite common winter visitors to water in the UK? Pretty easy really. It was in fact a flock of 5 Goosander (2 male 3 female), unfortunately they were seen from the wrong side of the lakes so I was distant and looking into the sun. Also on the water was a lone female Pintail, by no means a common bird.

Beyond the stuff above there wasn’t a huge amount else of note, 2 Common Buzzards, the usual ducks, the odd winter thrush, loads of Wren and a lone Kingfisher, were all, however I did get some quite nice photos, so I’m just going to fill the post with images from here on.

You can either park in the Haversham road car-park, and walk under the viaduct (the path either takes the north side if you go over the small bridge or South side if you go straight on) or you can park at the car-park on the opposite side of the canal in Old Wolverton from the Galleon Pub, and walk therough the fields or down along the canal and then right. But soon (no idea when yet) the nature reserve will open and there will be a load more paths and some hides (better viewing access) – a map of the proposed reserve can be seen here http://www.theparkstrust.com/downloads/Floodplain-Forest-Plan.pdf
If you are new to birding in MK then there is a Yahoo group for local birders called NBBR where local north Bucks bird news is passed around.
